Liberty State Park is a beautiful park on the Hudson River with great views of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Lower Manhattan, and the World Trade Center.
When Dan and I lived in Hoboken, NJ, I used to run here from our apartment. Today we walked the waterfront pathway and found a shady spot for our picnic.
James snoozed in his car seat while Dan and I ate. The weather was gorgeous, not a cloud in the sky.
We are very lucky that Dan has paternity leave, which he started a few days before I returned to work. We were able to spend a few days off together as a family.
We lounged by the waterfront and watched the sight seeing helicopters circle the Statue of Liberty.
I don’t think there could be a better way to spend one of my last days of maternity leave than a lazy afternoon at Liberty State Park. Some day we’ll teach James about the importance of this place, but today I just held him and savored our precious time together.
